Presentation on the East Link Extension and Spring District with
Special Guest from NBBJ--Mindy Levine-Archer, Spring District Lead Architect

Please join CFMA for the first educational event of the New Year. We are excited to welcome representatives from NBBJ to present on the Spring District and Sound Transit to give an update of the East Link extension project.

CFMA gives a warm welcome to Mindy Levine-Archer on our East Link Presentation. Ms. Levine-Archer is the lead architect for the master plan for the Spring District Development. Her work with NBBJ helped developer Wright Runstad envision the former Safeway distribution site in downtown Bellevue as a green, transit-oriented mixed-use development. With the Eastlake extension under construction, we are excited to hear what’s up and coming in transit-oriented design.

Mindy Levine-Archer is a design leader for NBBJ’s civic and commercial practice in Seattle. She works closely with clients to translate their mission, vision and goals into inspiring environments. Since joining the firm in 1999, she has led projects from the early conceptual design phase through building completion.

Sound Transit’s Community Outreach Specialist Jason Hampton will also be presenting on the expansion of Light Rail throughout the Puget Sound, with focus on the East Link extension currently under construction.

Spring District
The city signed an agreement with real estate developer Wright Runstad to develop new concepts. Wright Runstad turned to NBBJ to master plan a mixed use development, Spring District, on 36 acres. The plan includes up to 3 million square feet of office space, and will incorporate a future light rail station at its center. In addition, the site will incorporate sustainable strategies such as above-grade storm water treatment, water storage and re-use, green roofs and an extensive pedestrian network to encourage transit use.

East Link
East Link will give riders a fast, frequent and reliable connection between the Eastside's biggest population and employment centers and destinations across King, Pierce and Snohomish counties. When East Link opens in 2023, passengers will be able to ride more than 42 miles of light rail, from the Eastside to Northgate and to Angle Lake. Extensions south to Kent/Des Moines and Federal Way, north to Lynnwood and east to downtown Redmond will open one year later in 2024.
